19 St. Luke’s

Minutes later, Doctor Arias returned with the good news that he had been able to locate his orthopedic surgeon friend, who indeed was on duty in another Lima hospital, one of three locations where he performed surgeries.

Furthermore, this surgeon was prepared to admit me and personally handle the operation that evening.

Additionally, this man offered to reduce his own costs, and through various other budgeting angles the estimated cost of the surgery and hospital stay at St. Luke’s would come to a price one fifth of what the surgeon in this facility had quoted!

Not only was it encouraging to hear Dr. Arias’ very positive evaluation of this surgeon’s skills and experience, but the icing on the cake was when he asked me, “And do you know which hospital you’ll be getting admitted to?” He paused for emphasis, “St. Luke’s!”

I took this as the final confirmation that the Lord had prepared the way for me to be in the right hospital with the right doctor at the right time.
