46 Faith to Endure

Why did God say “endure”
If it wasn’t going to be hard?
So when that’s the hand He deals us
We just have to play that card.

When the storm clouds have gathered
And it storms down on you
Remember, your faith was given
To endure the storm too.

For fair weather faith’s okay,
When the going is good indeed,
But that’s not the real stuff
Upon which we’ve built our creed.

It’s when we’re sorely tested
That we have the chance to win
These times test the metal
And refine the gold within.

But with much fine preaching
I am not able to boast,
The reason I’m still here today
Is only because of our Host!

For I was tempted to quit
As the final hour approached
In the darkness before the dawn
This lofty subject broached.
Then He quickened to me
This verse when I was down
“It’s he who endures to the end
“Whose promise is the crown.”
