72 Orthopedic Opinion

My first day home I was surrounded by family and friends.

By mid-afternoon of that first day, I realized that I had just experienced more inspiration and stimulation in those few hours than I’d had in the preceding 30 days. Plus there’s just something about being home.

A couple days after my return, I had an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. Following are key quotes from this first examination:

Upon entering the examination room and taking his first look at the metal brace attached to my leg, he exclaimed, "Never seen something like this."

(Grant thinking: Hmm, not a good sign.)

After the surgeon took his first glance at the original X-ray of the fracture, he remarked, "Whew, that was one bad break!"

(Grant thinking: Yeah I already know that. Tell me something encouraging.)

Thankfully, after studying the X-ray of my leg after it was set, this top orthopedic surgeon concluded: "That surgeon in Peru did a great job of putting this thing back together!"

(Grant: Whew! I needed that.)
