49 Shadow of Death
My sister-in-law, pregnant with her first child, had unexpectedly gone into a coma and was diagnosed with toxemia. Sharon tearfully told me that the chances were very high that both her sister and the child would die.
I had had an all-night prayer vigil for her and the baby, and continued off and on throughout the day following.
Later that following day, Sharon called back with the news that the doctors had gone ahead and performed a caesarian and the little baby boy was born whole and healthy, defying all sorts of odds that he would be still-born.
My sister-in-law was still in a coma, oblivious to the fact she’d even given birth, and so the following night I spent my waking hours in prayer for her life.
While I sometimes lacked faith for my own healing, I somehow had full faith the Lord was going to bring them both through.
Whether significant or not, a large tremor shook all of Lima, rattling all the windows and doors of the house.
Among other things it reinforced to me how vulnerable human life is.
