75 Equilibrium

After being quite satisfied with just lying in bed recuperating for the past two weeks, I told Sharon I was fine with us accepting an invitation for lunch with Sharon’s grandparents.

However, as we set off on the lengthy drive to Los Angeles, I discovered that my equilibrium was way off.

I started feeling queasy in the van when we were just few minutes from our place. Fifteen minutes later I lost my breakfast after a hasty roadside stop.

Usually I’m the one mopping up after one of the kids when one inevitably gets carsick on a long trip. Now they were the ones handing me the Kleenex and bags.

I thought the worst was over, and was really looking forward to lunch.

However in the minutes prior to pulling up to where we’d be meeting our relatives, I felt it coming again.

And just as we came to a stop in front of the restaurant I lost the remainder of whatever was still in my stomach. Thankfully the van door had not been opened, so I was able to tidy up before making a reasonably graceful exit on crutches.

Although the lunch was delicious and we had a great time catching up, the ride home confirmed to me that I should hold off on any but completely necessary drives for a while.
