91 – Praise in Sickness and in Health
If a praiseful attitude releases the power and blessings of God in our lives, then it would seem that a complaining attitude would thwart that power, and therefore hold back positive circumstances from enveloping us. The dynamics of the spirit dictates that a complaint also has a power in itself, a power that works against blessings being manifest in our lives.
There’s so much in the Bible about praise and thankfulness, the theme being to “always give thanks for everything” (Ephesians 5:20)
Now it’s considerably easier to give thanks to God when good things happen. Our kids are honor students; we get a raise in pay; we win a bonus vacation trip; or we have a wonderful relaxing time with our family reveling in nature, and so forth.
However, you’ll note that this verse Ephesians.5:20 instructs us to always give thanks to God for all things. That would seem to be good and bad things that happen. Good things like health, and bad things like broken legs and convalescing.
Other Bible passages confirm this charge. For example, “In everything give thanks for this is the will of God”. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
